Hot Water Heat Pump Turn Key Project
St John of God (SJOG) had a distributed hot water system that was starting to fail. They were looking for a long term solution, while also looking to reduce their operating costs.
DETA prepared a business case to replace four existing hot water cylinders with a centrailised ring main with a heat pump. The system proposed was more technically complex than the existing system, but offered redundancy in heating (heat pumps and repurposing gas boilers) and could also provide heat for an existing underflooor heating system. DETA designed, consented, project managed and commissioned the system.
The project was installed within an operational hospital with no reduction in hot water service. It has reduced hot water costs by 70%, and reduced underfloor heating costs by 60%. The system was delivered under budget, started operating in January 2016 and has run faultlessly.
